Manufacturers are constantly competing to create the smallest, thinnest and lightest products and if the experts keep reducing the size of everything, there may be certain technologies that disappear off the face of the earth altogether.

OK so perhaps that’s a bit over dramatic, but the race to create the World’s thinnest TV is most definitely on and, right now, Sony are taking the lead.

The new Sony Bravia ZX Series is a range of LCD TVs that are less than 1cm thick. At their thinnest point, the Sony Bravia ZX1 HD LCD TVs are just 9.9mm wide. That’s thinner than a CD case and about the same thickness as a piece of toast (Warburtons thin sliced, not toastie).

The ZX series has BRAVIA ENGINE 2 technology to help create a crystal clear picture in both standard definition and full HD, so films can be displayed at their very best and gaming isn’t half bad either!

There’s not much point in owning a flatscreen TV is your not going to mount it on the wall, but hanging cables can often ruin the overall look. BRAVIA 1080 Wireless technology provides a super fast connection to transmit the audio/visual signal from the separate media receiver to the widescreen display in real time. No cables, no mess!

The media receiver can be kept hidden to maintain the minimalistic look of the TV and when you want to connect a DVD/Blu-ray player or a games console, you hook it up to the receiver not the actual TV. The wireless receiver also makes it possible for users to get Freeview Channels on the Sony Bravia ZX Series thanks to the digital tuners that are built in.

If you’re worried about losing signal by keeping the Media Receiver out the way, then don’t. It uses Radio Frequency technology which doesn’t have the same limitations of Infra-Red signals, so if an object is blocking the Media Receiver it can still function fully.

Unlike most conventional TVs, the Sony Bravia ZX series doesn’t use fluorescent lamps to light up the screen. It is instead illuminated from the sides with LED technology, both a cool and hi-tech feature.

Motionflow 100Hz technology and Image Blur reduction also improve the performance of the Sony Bravia ZX Series, as frames are sent across the screen at 100 frames per second to support fast moving pictures like sports and scrolling text.

When the Sony Bravia ZX1 Ultra Thin HD LCT TV isn’t being used, it can function as a huge digital photo frame. The screen never has to be blank, as your still photos can be displayed in a HD quality slideshow via USB or from the pre-loaded selection on the Media Receiver.

  1. Nice Sony I am big fan of Sony LCD TV because it’s picture quality is good and it’s resolution power is good and main thing is that it is flexible and it’s thickness is very impressive. Sony all models are very popular and day by day it is growing in technology. I am using Sony WEGA KLV-S23A10 23-Inch LCD HD-Ready Flat Panel TV
