First it was Take That, then it was The Pet Shop Boys and now Spandau Ballet are back to show the world that they’ve still got what it takes.
It’s been about 20 years since Spandau Ballet split and since then the five band members have been doing their own thing. Back in 1999, three of the band’s members filed a law suit against Gary Kemp (guitarist) in an attempt to get songwriting loyalties, but you’ll be pleased to hear that they’ve all kissed and made up and all five band members will be reuniting.
Tony Hadley, Steve Norman, John Keeble and brothers Martin and Gary Kemp will perform first in Ireland at O2 in Dublin and will end their tour in Liverpool. It looks as though Spandau Ballet’s reunion tour has caused quite a stir with the fans of their catchy New Romantic and Pop songs, as tickets have been selling at some speed!
Spandau Ballet’s comeback tour will consist of 12 dates in October later this year. Here’s a list for those of you who are interested at seeing the boys (or men, rather) in action:
- O2 Dublin, Ireland - Tuesday 13th October 2009
- Odyssey Arena Belfast, UK - Wednesday 14th October 2009
- Sheffield Arena, UK - Friday 16th October 2009
- SECC Glasgow, UK - Saturday 17th October 2009
- The O2 London, UK - Tuesday 20th October 2009
- The O2 London, UK - Wednesday 21st October 2009
- The O2 London, UK - Thursday 22nd October 2009
- LG Arena (NEC) Birmingham, UK - Saturday 24th October 2009
- LG Arena (NEC) Birmingham, UK - Sunday 25th October 2009
- Metro Radio Arena Newcastle, UK - Monday 26th October 2009
- MEN Arena Manchester, UK - Wednesday 28th October 2009
- Liverpool Echo Arena, UK - Thursday 29th October 2009
The synthpop new romantics should be performing some of their biggest hits from back in the day including ‘Gold’ (the one you all know) and ‘True’, but have also hinted that there may be a new look and style for the band.
I have to say it though, it will be very strange seeing Martin Kemp singing soppy love songs after seeing him as bad-guy Steve Owen in Eastenders!
