As of yet, no MP3 player has come close to the high specification of Apple’s iPod Touch, but Sony may have just changed all of that.

The new Sony X-Series Walkman is right up there with the iPod Touch and is packed full with the latest technology. This impressive piece of hardware features a 3.0″ OLED Touchscreen Display which, although smaller than the iPod Touch, makes it incredibly easy to slip into any pocket or small handbag.

What the new Sony PSP Go! may look like....

Rumour has it there’s a new PSP on the way, but it’s set to be called the PSP Go! instead of PSP 2. After the recent release of the Nintendo DSi with its two cameras, touch screens, microphone and SD card slot, the new PSP Go! has a lot to compete with.

Apparently, the PSP Go! won’t fail to impress. The UMD drive on the older PSP models is set to do a disappearing act and users will instead get their games via downloads, which will then be stored in the new internal flash memory unit.

Sony have recently released Patapon 2 for the PSP at a download-only game, which has further increased the rumours that a UMD drive will not be present in the new and improved model.

Gamers who already have a collection of UMD discs shouldn’t be disappointed, as the guys at Sony have planned to set up a service which will enable users to transfer their games from disc to the handheld device.

The PSP Go! will possibly (and hopefully) feature a second analogue stick, which is something many gaming fans have been wanting to see for a long time now. The screen of the new PSP Go! may not be touchscreen, but will slide out to reveal all the control buttons.

Unfortunately, the people at Sony are doing a great job keeping any info about the PSP Go! under wraps, so we’re yet to find out what features will be present and what will be missing!

If the UMD drive really is being ditched, users should expect a more lightweight device and we’ll just have to wait and see whether a camera and touchscreen comes as part of the package. This would be a sensible move for Sony, because the iPhone, DSi and almost every other must-have device on the market are packed full of great features.
