Freelander Movving More Quickly than Most!

Some personal experience on this one, hence the bitterness, but stick with me.

I found out AFTER purchasing a Land Rover Freelander on an 04 plate that they have a known problem with the Head Gasket. Once they go (which they always do), they cost a significant amount to replace (over £1k depending on the damage done).

In times gone past Land Rover would help contribute to the cost depending on the level of service history you had but since Rover went bust they are now no longer doing this!

I think it is incredibly bad that Land Rover did not issue a product recall in relation to this product as it has cost vehicle owners millions in repair costs and has, in many people’s opinion, caused damage to the Land Rover brand and reputation.

When I started researching the problem I found that there are usergroups everywhere who talk about the Land Rover Freelander Head Gasket problem and I also had a note from a journalist who suffered the exact same problem on not one but two of his own Freelanders.

Very poor form on the part of Land Rover and I would not recommend buying a used Land Rover Freelander to anyone.
